A dishwasher is used frequently, especially if you have a large family. To keep you from having to hand wash your dishes, below are four maintenance tips to prevent problems as well as to keep your dishwasher running efficiently.
Inspect and Clean Filters and Screens
You should find a filter or a screen located at the bottom of your dishwasher above the food drain. This is there to catch large food particles and other large debris. Over time, this filter or screen can become clogged so you need to periodically clean it. Refer to the owner's manual for your dishwasher on how to clean the filter or screen.
Remove Clogs from Sprayer Arm
Over time, the sprayer arm can become clogged with food particles and other debris. Once these things get into the small holes your dishwasher will not run as efficient and your dishes will not get as clean. Mix together 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water and put into a large bowl. Remove the sprayer arm and place it into the mixture to loosen the clog. Let it sit in the mixture for a couple of hours than use a pipe cleaner to clean each individual hole if there is still debris. You should do this every few weeks to prevent clogs.
Check the Door Seal
If you open the door of your dishwasher, you will see a plastic or rubber seal running along it. This seal is important as it provides the door with a water-tight seal when it is closed. If you ever notice any kind of moisture around your dishwasher, this is the first thing you should check. The seal may look cracked or loose. If so, you can purchase a new seal at a home improvement store. Pry the old seal out using a screw driver and then place the new seal in its place. You can make the seal flexible and easier to work with if you soak it in some hot water for a few minutes before you start working with it.
If you are having problems, the manual that came with your dishwasher will have instructions on how to replace the seal.
Make Sure It Is Level
Your dishwasher needs to be level or it will leak. You can check this on your own using an air-bubble level. You can purchase this level at any home improvement or hardware store. Place the level along the edge of the inside door. If you find that the dishwasher is not level, adjust the feet until it is.
If you have any problems with your dishwasher do not attempt to repair them on your own. Instead, hire an appliance repair company to come to your home and fix your dishwasher for you.Share

Hello, I am Fernandez Histen. I am interested in learning all I can about circuit boards used in appliance builds. For example, if you have a refrigerator with an ice-maker, it likely uses a circuit board to plan and execute that entire procedure. Dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers, trash compactors and microwaves all use circuit boards to complete their main functions. You will better understand the way your appliances work by exploring their circuit board technology. You can visit my website whenever you need to know more about this modern, innovative component. I will also discuss the different features that use the circuit boards to function. Thank you for stopping by my website.
